Prison Cell Monologue MP3 (6:41 min) Recorded on July 14, 2006 at the Naropa Summer Writing Program. If you have good speakers you can hear my friend Luis Valadez playing bass in the background. The piece contains explicit language and strong violent images. I performed it twice at Naropa and both times was approached by someone from the audience. After the first reading, a woman in the audience was inspired talk to others about her own experiences in prison. After the reading at the SWP, another young man shook my hand and told me thanks. Interview with Tim Z. Hernandez MP3 (33 min) Recorded on September 19, 2006 at Tim's home. I had been wanting to interview my friend Tim since the previous winter when I first read his book Skin Tax. The interview finally happened nine months later. Just a few months before this interview Skin Tax won the 2006 American Book Award for poetry.
